Mewar state was also called as Udaipur state. The Mewarkingdom was set up around 530 AD. Chittorgarh, capital of Mewar was defeated by the Mughal Emperor Akhbar in 1568. Thereafter, it stayed under Mughals for the following 150 years. It was managed by a few administrations of Mori, Guhilot and Sisodia. The leaders of Mewar utilized the title "Maharana".
